Looking for someone to carry out an artificial grass removal for badly installed artificial grass?

If you’ve had a bad experience with a company installing fake grass, we’re very sorry to hear it. Although a bad installation is quite unusual, we’ve had to come and carry out artificial grass replacements and get rid of poor quality artificial grass installations for a few of our customers.

There are all sorts of reasons why you might want an artificial grass removal, such as:

  • A poor quality product
  • The wrong type of sub-base used, causing drainage issues
  • A lack of weed barrier installed, causing weeds to grow up through your lawn
  • Unsightly sinking or dripping on parts of your lawn
  • Overall bad workmanship causing a hazard in your garden
  • Patchy-looking fake grass, leading to an unnatural look

Maybe you’ve simply outgrown your old artificial grass, and it’s beginning to look a bit tired and worn – which is also a perfectly good reason to bring in the new, with an artificial grass replacement!

What does artificial grass removal involve?

Curious about what to expect when having your old artificial grass removed? On a typical artificial grass removal, an artificial grass specialist will carry out the following steps:

1. Remove your existing grass

This would first be cut into manageable strips using a stanley knife, as artificial grass can be heavy. It would then be disposed of via a skip that should be provided as part of the service.

2. Check your existing sub-base

Your artificial grass specialist should then carry out checks to ensure the correct level of sub-base has been installed when your grass was initially fitted. This involves digging some holes to check that a sufficient amount of aggregates and weed barrier have been installed.

If this is not the case, this would need to be installed if you were opting for replacement artificial grass, to ensure you benefit from the correct amount of drainage and avoid sinking or puddling from your new artificial grass.

3. Level out and compact the sand base

It’s important to level and compact the sand base, which will be directly below the old grass. This will have been walked on during the above checks, so will need to be levelled out to ensure a smooth finish.

4. Fit your new artificial grass (optional)

If an artificial grass replacement is looking like your best option, an artificial grass specialist should be happy to fit your new grass – having given you some samples to choose from, first.

Need a specialist to carry out artificial grass removal?

If you’re sick of your badly installed – or just worn and tired – artificial grass, the best thing to do is to get in touch with a reputable, experienced artificial grass specialist who can help, by talking you through your options. But always check customer reviews and testimonials, first!

If an artificial grass replacement sounds like a good idea, they should be able to show you samples of different types of grass, and explain more about the installation process, so you can get a better idea of what to expect from a professional fake grass installation.
