With realistic and hard-wearing artificial sports turf, you can play football or rugby all year round – without having to worry about muddy patches.
Our realistic fake grass is ideal for kids and grown-up kids to play on – and it looks great the rest of the time, too!
Are you wondering if artificial sports turf might be a good idea for your garden?
If your kids love to play sports, but you also want a garden that looks luscious and green all year round, artificial grass may be the answer.
Luckily, if you and your family like to play sports, you don’t need to invest in the type of artificial sports grass you’d expect to find on a football pitch. In fact, most high quality fake grass is so hard-wearing that it can withstand heavy football – and playing sports on it is no problem!
If you’re a golf lover, you could even choose to install an artificial grass putting green so you can practice getting the perfect hole-in-one!
And because of how fast artificial sports turf drains, you or the kids will no longer have to wait indoors for the lawn to dry out after heavy rain – and you also won’t have to worry about mud being trailed through the house afterwards, either.
You can even install a special shockpad layer (more about that below), which is perfect for preventing sports injuries for both kids and grown-up kids!

Choosing your artificial sports turf
If you’re looking for the best artificial grass to play sports on, we advise choosing a grass that will stay upright and need a lot less in the way of brushing and maintenance.
It should ideally be made from 100% polyethylene, as this creates a softer feel and is more gentle on the skin in the case of trips or falls, yet has a sturdy structure to maximise ‘bounce-backability’.
Cheaper fake grass tends to be made from polypropylene, with can leave you with a coarse, plastic feel and tends to be slower when returning to its perfect look.
Finally, high quality polyurethane (PU backing) results in a much longer-lasting product. For more information on what fake grass is made from, you can check out our blog: ‘What is the Best Quality Artificial Grass Made From?’

An extra layer of protection
If your kids will be playing a lot of sports on your artificial grass, we advise installing an extra shockpad layer to help protect from falls. This layer provides a soft, spongy surface that can help to prevent injury – it can also be ideal for fitting around swings or trampolines!
The product we install (Easigrass) calls this layer ‘Easi-play’, and can achieve up to 2.6m critical fall height. The shockpad layer itself also comes in either 18mm or 25mm thicknesses. The grass that is installed on top usually ranges from around 30mm – 50mm in thickness.
