Artificial Grass for Nurseries & schools

Are you looking for a safe and fun space for children to play as part of your nursery or school?

Artificial lawns in schools and nurseries are becoming more popular, and it’s easy to see why. They provide a soft, durable space that can be used all-year-round, weather permitting.

It can even be used indoors as part of a creative space for playtime or story time. Not only is it soft and stimulating for kids, it’s also easy to maintain and is very durable.

I’ve carried out a few nursery installations, and the feedback has been amazing. Not only from children, but from parents as well!

As an artificial grass specialist, I’m going to explain some of the biggest reasons why artificial lawns in schools and nurseries are such a great idea.

1. Great for providing a safe surface to play on

When installed with a shock pad layer, artificial grass can be one of the safest surfaces for children to play on. The special shock pad layer absorbs the force of all trips and falls, making it much safer for kids to play. So, no more grazed knees at playtime!

TIP: It’s particularly great for having around swings, chutes and sunken trampolines.

2. Helps to promote physical activity

These days, it’s almost notorious for kids to spend more time with tech and less time in the great outdoors. By putting down artificial grass, you’ll be encouraging children to get out and have more fun playing outside on a safe, durable surface.

3. Dries faster after heavy rainfall

Real grass can take days to dry out after heavy rainfall. In contrast, fake grass dries pretty much straight away (due to the sub-base that helps to drain away water). So, no more having to stay indoors – or off the grass – because it’s too muddy to play.

4. Looks and feels great for everyone

Artificial grass looks lush and green, making it a nice, happy space that kids – and adults – will love. Not only does it look great, it’s also lovely and soft underfoot!

5. Eliminates mud and mess

Connected to point 3, what tends to happen when children play on wet grass? That’s right – mud everywhere! However, artificial grass is different. It requires the mud to be removed from the area, and a new sub-base installed. Aggregates and sharp sand are also used, and a weed barrier included, so no mud comes through like with real grass.

Imagine that! No more muddy footprints or puddles in school corridors after playtime. Bliss!

6. Extremely durable to withstand heavy footfall

Good quality artificial grass is vigorously tested to ensure it can withstand a heavy amount of footfall. Its life expectancy is around 15 – 20 years (with the proper care and maintenance). This makes it a great investment for a nursery or school!

7. Requires less maintenance than natural grass

Artificial grass is extremely low-maintenance compared to natural grass and other outdoor surfaces. Just remove any leaves and debris, and brush your grass regularly! There are also some other steps you can take – if necessary – to ensure your grass continues looking great for longer.

We also recommend annual maintenance from your chosen installer or specialist.
